Each has its own cathedral-ceiling-topped treatment suite equipped with an en suite bathroom that’s spacious enough to accommodate a couple. The faint scent of lavender adds an aromatherapy accent throughout. An additional pavilion, number eight, houses a sauna and steam room; its outdoor terrace has a stunning floor of paving stones and smooth pebbles, and features a jalousie-topped roof over hot and cold whirlpool tubs. Nearby, there’s a swimming pool.

All of the products used in Cygalle’s spa treatments use organically grown plants, and oils and are made with minimal processing. Yoga aficionados will be pleased with the programme, too. Along with all the typical services, there is a two-hour Chakra Alignment Package – one hour with a yoga instructor another with a Cygalle therapist who gives either a chakra aromatherapy session or a colour-based massage.
CuisinArt Resort & Spa, Anguilla The sparkling white, Greek-styled CuisinArt Resort & Spa (www.cuisinartresort.com) on Rendezvous Bay in Anguilla has long been a desired destination. Best known for its unique hydroponic farm and chefs who teach and serve healthy cuisine, the resort has been a spa destination in the past. Since January 2009, however, when its brand-new triple-thesize Venus Spa & Fitness centre opened after a $10 million expansion, it’s an even more appealing venue. Two buildings house the 27,000-square-foot facility, said to be the secondlargest spa in the Caribbean. There are 16 new treatment rooms and inspiring sea views. Swiss showers and hammams enhance the twin lounges; in addition, there are two couples’ suites each with an outdoor terrace – one has a couples’ shower, the other a couples’ jacuzzi. The Healing Water Pool is enriched with salted mineral water and has jets for relaxation.
It’s ideal for the aqua therapy treatments that include a watsu-style massage where you can be lifted and twirled while receiving stretching and shiatsu. A variety of treatments incorporate fruits and herbs that are grown in the resort’s hydroponic garden including a cucumber and aloe wrap and a fresh herb scrub. There’s a 300-square-foot Men’s Club Room that offers a treatment menu geared to men. There’s also a massage treatment designed for expectant mothers.
