Some stories are so extraordinary they almost seem impossible to believe.
In eastern Uganda, Musa Hasahya Kasera has become internationally known for having one of the world’s largest families. His household includes 12 wives, 102 children and an astonishing 578 grandchildren—a family so large that it resembles a small village.
Now, after decades of family life, the father has announced that he is officially done having more children. He has openly acknowledged that raising such an enormous family has brought major financial and practical challenges, saying that providing food, education and other essentials has become increasingly difficult.
Hasahya has said that experience has taught him valuable lessons about the responsibilities that come with parenthood. Today, his focus is on supporting the generations that already make up his remarkable family rather than expanding it further.
Whether people react with amazement, disbelief or curiosity, his story highlights the enormous commitment required to care for such a vast family. It is a reminder that while family is often life’s greatest blessing, it also brings responsibilities that grow with every new generation.
One man. Twelve wives. More than one hundred children. Hundreds of grandchildren. It is one of the most extraordinary family stories ever told.
